Epic Tales

These are some of the backgrounds I worked on together with Paco Vink, it's for an animated children's book called Epic Tales: Hansel & Gretel. I'm so proud of everyone that worked on this amazing project!
The characters are animated so I added that second pic to give an impression of the final look, compared to the 'empty' background.

A Portrait

This is Dennis King, he plays the title role in Laurel & Hardy's 'Fra Diavolo' and I kind of had a crush on him as a child, or rather on the character that he played... I love that movie.

Notorious Circus

Next to the 'usual' animation and toy design, I'm also working on a graphic novel: This is the cover of the BD album Notorious Circus, scenario by Kid Toussaint, linework by Chris Evenhuis and colors & shading by me. I studied the colors from Hellboy and Alphonse Mucha's art and it's been a very interesting proces...and a lot of fun. The album is coming out in June in french, but it will also appear in other languages later on.

Drawing myself and other stuff

On occasion I have been asked to draw myself (to go with an interview or resume etc) so here it is..It's really weird drawing yourself; I tried to make a cartoony version rather than a portrait or caricature. It is hard to judge whether it's any good, but people seem to recognize me :)

Also, sometimes I like to just use whatever material is within reach- I can be pretty lazy - and randomly experiment with it. So I was watching Inception and saw these cool chinese paintings on golden panels and I had recently found some gold colored paint so I fabricated my own little golden mini painting -nothing compared to the originals ofcourse, they are so fabulous, just google 'Eitoku'. Here is my first try:

Trees

It's been TOO longs since my last post! I have all these unfinished drawings laying around, almost ready to post, but I can't find the time to properly finish them... I must stop giving priority to paid work every now and then so I can do some more drawings just for fun!
Fortunately I like speed-painting trees, happy happy ^-^
